We have expanded our family to include several new faces. We’ll be posting their photos and story on our site soon. We are now able to take groups up to 8 people at a time in our new location. We are really enjoying the sights and experiences as we’ve been getting some of the best of what the Pacific Northwest has to offer….beautiful scenery, mountain views, Mt Rainier & Baker and the Puget Sound…and let’s not forget the unforgettable black bears, cubs, deer and elk. It has been exciting for us and our equine friends to explore our new home.
We are most grateful for all of the outpouring from everyone’s heart. Your thoughts and desire to help have touched us and the herd immensely. We couldn’t have pulled through without you! Thank you!

We are still nursing our babies. Hunter was the most severely burned but is healing so wonderfully given it’s only been 2 1/2weeks! He has sloughed most of the skin that was burned and he is regrowing hair and eyelashes already! We are so proud of him! He is such to fighter and is such an inspiration! We weren’t sure how his vision would turn out but we are pleased to say that he is able to see from both eyes and has the ability to blink as well. It appears that he is mostly out of the woods in the way of secondary infections. For those who are interested in the products we’ve been using for his treatment, the products that we HIGHLY recommend are Vetricyn and pure Aloe Vera gel. Both are wonderous!!!!
We have been hesitant to share photos of Hunter as it may not be appropriate for certain audiences, however we will post some later as his wounds continue to heal. We are still in need of extra loving hands to share space with the horses. If you have a love for horses and wish to spend some time just loving on them, please contact us to visit with them!
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers!
God speed,
Kelly, Doug and the Equine Escapes Herd

May 1st, we awoke to a roaring barn fire. At that time the barn was completely involved, however we were able to save the last remaining 2 horses from their outdoor paddocks. Tragically, we lost 2 of our precious family members…..our sweet Lakota and our Fancy girl. Overall, we were very fortunate as 11 had made it out alive. We are still nursing some injuries and severe burns but the trauma of the events are finally fading. Our Morgan, Hunter sustained the worst burns and will be under our watchful eye for the next month to ensure he doesn’t get any infections.
Many thanks and huge hugs to our supportive neighbors, family and friends. It’s amazing the support and compassion that pours from the hearts of those touched by such unfortunate events. We would like to say a special heartfelt thank you to the following folks!

It has been wonderful sharing all of the unique Equine Escapes experiences with you! The herd has loved the interaction, before, during and after the “experience”. I think Lakota would like to have a small person all for his own!
A BIG thank you to everyone for being so open, kind and sharing! Make sure you bring a camera with you for those Kodak moments! We spotted a black bear on the trail several days ago….it was a beautiful and serene sight. (No worries…as they are normally terrified of the large creatures coming down the path and they scurry off quickly.)
We look forward to meeting our new clients and sharing more experiences!
Take care everyone!
